Research Description

In my laboratory, we explore how a variety of stressors (e.g., hypoxia, exercise, orthostatic stress, thermal stress) affect the regulation of brain blood flow in health and disease.

Research Summary

My lab's research interests and projects are:
- Mechanisms of cerebral blood flow regulation in healthy humans and in athletes with sport related brain injury.
- Influence of environmental stressors such as high altitude (i.e., hypoxia), carbon dioxide, thermal, and orthostatic stress on cerebrovascular function.
- Influence of exercise training on cerebrovascular function.

Lab Equipment

Environmental chamber equipped with 5 hypoxia generators; lower body negative pressure chamber; transcranial Doppler ultrasound machine; stationary bicycles and treadmill; cardiorespiratory monitoring station.
